The Front Porch Players

ArtBlast Presentations!

NEXT UP:    The Front Porch Players of Rosemount will be presenting two short shows which will be presented as part of the Rosemount Area Arts Council’s 2019 “ArtBlast.”

The first show is a Melodrama, which is a fun, comedic, short, stage play with exaggerated characters, “Good” vs. “Evil” (Hero vs. Villain) with always a happy ending. The show we will be presenting is an original first-time presentation written by Keith Reed, "The Mystery of the Moccasin Mine, or: 'That's The Spirit!'" The show will be performed at the Central Park Amphitheater on Tuesday, June 25 at 7:30 pm.

The second show will be a radio drama, presented at the Steeple Center on Wednesday, June 26 at 7 pm. This is another original play entitled “Mystery at the Dunbar Mansion” written by Keith Reed, and will be in the radio play format, that is, no stage action, rather voice only.

This was one of our best shows!  A terrific cast and crew produced this fantastic play!

Cantankerous retiree Norman Thayer and his conciliatory wife, Ethel, spend summers at their New England vacation home on the shores of idyllic Golden Pond. This year, their adult daughter, Chelsea, visits with her new fiancée and his teenage son, Billy  on their way to Europe. After leaving Billy behind to bond with Norman, Chelsea returns, attempting to repair the long-strained relationship with her aging father before it's too late.

This show was produced on March 1, 2, 8, and 9, 2019

"The Importance of Being Earnest"
by Oscar Wilde
This classic play by Oscar Wilde delighted our audiences on October 5, 6, 12, and 13!  The story of two bachelors, John ‘Jack’ Worthing and Algernon ‘Algy’ Moncrieff, who create alter egos named Ernest to escape their tiresome lives. They attempt to win the hearts of two women who, conveniently, claim to only love men called Ernest. The pair struggle to keep up with their own stories and become tangled in a tale of deception, disguise and misadventure.

This community theater group formed in 2013 and produces plays for all ages and levels of actors: from Melodramas, to Improv, to full length Broadway plays. Everyone is invited to audition for these performances. The Front Porch Players of Rosemount has produced several shows over the past few years, including Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap, Neil Simon’s Barefoot in the Park, Same Time Next Year, A Fine Monster YOU Are, along with several melodramas and Mystery Dinner Theaters.
