A new band The Rose Creek Boys made its Rosemount debut on September 7 at The Steeple Center at 7:00 PM. The anchor of the band is Harley Coborn, most often available at Rosemount’s The Guitar Shop. The band is eclectic in their play book.

The Rose Creek Boys owes its existence to the first-Friday-night-of-the-month guitar jams at The Guitar Shop in Rosemount. Harley, Larry and Chuck met there about two and a half years ago, where they discovered a shared passion for the music of great American songwriters like John Prine and Bob Dylan. Earlier this year, The Rose Creek Boys were one of 12 bands invited to play for the second annual Make Music Day festival in Hastings MN.

When a three-man band has more than 150 years’ worth of combined experience playing the guitar and singing, you might think it’s a little optimistic to be using “boys” as part of their band name. For this group, however, the band’s name reflects an ageless love for great songs – no matter what the genre. Although heavily weighted towards bluegrass, folk music, and classic country tunes, The Rose Creek Boys’ song book wanders off into many different fields of music, often featuring songs made famous by artists such as the Everly Brothers, Eric Burden, the Animals, and Ray Charles – along with an occasional “come-to-meeting” gospel song and a few original numbers.
