Second Act Players - Senior (50+) Theater Upcoming Classes
"Building and Strengthening the Community Through the Arts"
Creative Writing Course
This course is intended for the adult who has an interest in writing. For four 2-sessions, the emphasis will be placed on creativity derived from new ways of looking at familiar things. The sessions will be comprised of technique and style discussions along with writing exercises in both prose and poetry. It is the intention of the instructor to have a sharing portion during each 2-hour session. The instructor is also interested in hearing what the people taking the class might want from a course entitled Creative Writing. 

Instructor: Chuck Brooks who is a retired Rosemount High School English teacher, author of three books, and columnist for the"Rosemount Town Pages" newspaper.
Time: 
Monday Feb. 27th, 
Wednesday. March 1st, 
Monday March 6th 
Wednesday March 8th. 
All classes will be held from 3-5 pm at the Steeple Center.

Cost to attend all 4 sessions:
Second Act Players members $25 
$40 for non-members

Stage Management 
The Stage Manager has one of the most important roles in the production of live theater. The Stage Manager shares control with the director from audition through show opening, and then takes full responsibility from show opening through closing.

This course, which consists of two-hour classes, will include:
The history of Stage Management
Terminology
Audition procedures
Rehearsals
Stage preparation
General responsibilities
Running the performance

Shakespeare
In this course, we will examine a few of Shakespeare’s more popular plays from an historical standpoint, and how it has affected theater from that point forward. We will also discuss and experiment a bit with Shakespearean monologues. This will be a very fun class; we will hopefully come away with a bit better understanding of this very important and exciting playwright. 
In this course, which consists of two-hour classes, will include:

The history of Shakespeare
Overviews of his plays
The era
The language of Shakespeare
How to listen to Shakespeare

This course consists of one two-hour class which will be comprised of an overview of the directing process. Some of the topics will include: 
Thinking like an artist
Research and preparation
Interpreting the playwright
Design
Casting
Staging
Conducting rehearsals
